Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling rigs, specifically for geothermal drilling projects.
  • Interpret and execute drilling plans and specifications, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct site assessments and coordinate with respective project managers to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Installation of boreholes to include the troubleshooting of issues in real time and adjust drilling parameters as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal drilling regulations, including VDH and DPOR requirements.
  • Manage and train drilling team, promoting a strong safety culture and operational excellence.
  • Maintain detailed logs, drilling records, and documentation for each project.
  • Oversee and complete routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of drilling equipment and support vehicles.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and satisfaction.
Specific Qualifications:
  • Master Driller Licensed or ability to be licensed in Virginia with ability to obtain or be classified as DPOR qualified individual for well-drilling.
  • Strong knowledge of closed-loop geothermal system installation and well construction techniques.
  • Proficiency in the operation of sonic drilling is preferred, but the willingness to learn and master is required.
  • Experience operating and maintaining a variety of drilling rigs and associated equipment.
  • Holder of Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Strong understanding of site safety protocols.
  • Ability to interpret site plans, technical drawings, and borehole logs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates clear-headed problem solving and composure in high-stress situations, and the ability to lead effectively when challenges arise.
