The role includes overseeing all human resource functions, such as training, staff competencies, and staffing levels. The manager develops and manages budgets to meet departmental, organizational, and patient safety goals, ensuring regulatory compliance. Ongoing monitoring of departmental indicators and PI activities is required, along with responding to departmental needs by performing radiology technician duties when necessary. This position requires understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. The employee is expected to demonstrate behavior aligned with the Core Values, support the hospital’s strategic plan, and contribute to the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Specific Job Duties Provides supportive and compassionate leadership to staff. Responds to staff requests promptly. Ensures accurate and timely communication. Supports staff in resolving conflicts involving other disciplines and services. Coordinates department activities, ensuring safety for patients and staff. Acts as a professional liaison with Medical Staff. Ensures staffing plans meet the needs of the population served. Determines staffing matrix and posts open positions timely. Expedites screening and interviewing processes. Ensures staff competency and performance standards. Conducts staff orientation and annual performance evaluations. Develops employee development plans for improvement opportunities. Promotes staff development and maintains appropriate staffing levels based on acuity calculations. Develops department goals and educates staff in PI methodology. Prepares and reports departmental activities and findings regularly. Develops and manages budgets aligned with organizational goals and patient safety standards. When needed, performs radiographic exams adhering to ARRT, CRT standards, evaluates technical quality, and recognizes duties that need to be performed proactively. Establishes priorities, organizes work efficiently, and responds to changing needs with insight and problem-solving skills. Accepts constructive criticism positively and adheres to attendance, punctuality, and hospital policies. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity, participates actively in customer service, and fosters effective communication through verbal, non-verbal, and written methods. Interacts courteously with coworkers, physicians, staff, and the public, maintaining professionalism and organizational policies. Understands and complies with all relevant safety, legal, and ethical standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and accreditation requirements. Participates in safety programs, emergency preparedness, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Possesses an Associates Degree in radiologic technology (Bachelor’s preferred), with specialized training in Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound being advantageous. Supervisory experience in medical imaging and previous radiology technician experience are required. Must hold current California ARRT, CRT licenses, and BLS certification.
